For those of us at Garden in the Koop, the garden is a metaphor for something “bigger than us.” Growing our food, saving our seeds, understanding the importance of teaching our children how to garden; it’s all part of this “bigger than us” story. We understand that how we garden and what we teach our children about the garden is a metaphor for how we live and how we teach our children to live. In some parts of the world people are starving for the lack of a garden and the resources to have these gardens, while in other parts people have abandoned their gardens for the “super size me” garden of McDonalds. For all of us there is a need to return to the healing Garden.
Perhaps it’s time for all of us to go back to the garden, to teach our children about the garden and to listen to what we hear in the garden. Learning to live by the garden and teaching our children this, it can change the world.
At Garden in the Koop our goal is help you create your garden. We offer heirloom seeds and plants because saving the seeds will keep our global garden alive. Not only are the plants healthier to eat, they can feed us for years to come through their seeds. We also bring you “the learning box” with our “Incredible Edible Garden in a Box” – simple and fun ways to get you and your children into the garden.
For us the garden is our passion and the food we produce our celebration of life. Our mission is to bring you the seeds, the plants and the knowledge so that you can feel the passion and celebrate the garden.
