Zea mays ‘Tom Thumb’
This is a wonderful HEIRLOOM corn originally from New Hampshire that starts extra early and does well even in cold climates. The dwarf plants grow to 3′ plants with ears 3-4“ long. Corn is a heavy feeder so you will have to make sure you add a lot of compost to your garden.
You can sow the seeds outdoors one week after the last frost and if you are daring you can try to start some indoors. Remember use pots you can plant with the seedling so the roots are not disturbed. This is a fun corn because it is small ready to pick in 85 days and great for popcorn. You can really impress your friends when you invite them over for popcorn and a movie-your popcorn that is!
